Same here. They just won't budge.

Perhaps this could be a somewhat solution?

Just keep using the Singlepower amps but place them in a cage of some kind. That way if it blows up, you will be protected. The only caveat is that it could damage the headphone though.

The chassis is pretty heavy-duty so if it really blows through the case, then I don't think a cage will do much to help.

Hmm...liquid mids, sparkling highs, taut bass, holographic soundstage...

Easy to get carried away but it's true

After the revelations voiced here I've been looking at a custom built
perspex case.

Can Mikhail be prosecuted for building potentially bomb-like devices in addition for being a con artist who stole money from people?

I can't help it, but I am starting to wonder how he managed to build all these amps without frying himself... All the loose parts, the wire mess, parts far from up to specs... etc.

Looks to be quite an achievment in itself.

That's pretty funny. Rather than building a bomb shelter, why not just diffuse the bomb (ie, have a tech check it out)?

Maybe he did. Maybe that's why he went nuts and decided to rip people off.

To open up my Extreme last year I remember having to insert the wrench and use another wrench to grip the handle at a 90 degree angle to generate enough torque to get the screw moving.

Here's what mine used to look like before it became vapor ware.

Is that the Platinum version?

Just a DIYer here that doesn't own a SP, but other than the $$$$/build quality disappointment, doesn't any safety concerns come down to:
  1. Possible exploding cap due to jostle/short or long-term running out-of-spec. In all likelihood, would this damage be contained by the case?
  2. Case shock hazard due to jostle/short. Wouldn't a high-gauge/strong connection from IEC ground to case contain this?
  3. Damage to headphones due to same conditions. Could an (external) offset detection/relay be added (fleabay "Speaker Protection") to minimize this risk?
Certainly wouldn't leave these powered unattended & just wondering if there is something short of a full-blown elec. tech review/repair that would be acceptable.

Any explosion in the case will clearly be contained. However the juice cans
have explosion reliefs on both the top and bottom of the cap. And the tops
of the cans are clearly exposed. You have seen the "X" marks on the capacitors
on your PC motherboard, same sort of thing.

All amps that are OTL including solid state should have DC output protection
devices to prevent damage to headphones. Anything with an output transformer
is ok as is.

As far as getting the chassis open you need a high quality hardened allen key.
Snapon makes some very nice ones that fit into a standard side handle and then
the SP cases open up easily every time.

Thank you for this. And empty soup cans over them would look so lovely My suggestions were really just band-aids & you, Nate and others have this well in hand.

Good luck.
