Name Artists that you "get" despite your lack of interest in their genre

Just curious......there's always a rapper which non-rap enthusiasts "get" or a country singer who can move a devoted metal-head to tears. Thought it would be fun to see which artists have the ability to move listeners who are either inexperienced in that artist's genre, or just usually don't like that genre. Looking forward to seeing the results.

When you list your answer please include the genre which you bracket that artist so we can know which vantage point you are coming from.
I've been talking headphones with you for years. Now I can help you with your purchase:) Sales Specialist & Headphone Guru @ Headphones.com

Marty Robbins and Johnny Cash for Country. Gram Parsons I suppose as well, but I only really listen to his version of 'Wild Horses'. With Country I do like the 'older' 'traditional' style although I don't listen to it much.

I also like the J-Pop artists KOTOKO and Maaya Sakamoto, but I don't like the genre much otherwise.

J-pop/Rock artists Asian Kung Fu Generation and The Pillows besides them I don't listen to Japanese music.

I like the Offsping, principally the album "Conspiracy Of One", even though I cannot ****ing stand punk music.

David Allen Coe. The Ramones.

Don't like country or punk, but enjoy the two above.

I wouldn't exactly call The Offspring punk at that point of their carrier. Their sound was watered down and popified for the purpose of selling albums. I think that's the reason why you say they're the only punk band you like - because they're not at all representative of the genre as a whole.

Uhhh, AC/DC.

I used to listen to that kind of music a bunch but then I basically lost interest in it. I started listening to them again recently and I quite like them.
