Any MP3 Player Similar to the AMP3?

Is there any other DAP out in the market that offers unrivaled SQ besides the AMP3 and Hifiman 800(sp?)? I'm asking this because the amp3 is quite expensive , while the price of the hifiman 800 is inconceivable; there are no used amp3s in the for sale forum. If there are really no DAP with even close SQ to the amp3 (due to the amp3's combo mp3 + amp), then these big brand DAP companies (Sony, Samsung, Cowon, etc...) need to get their game on.

I thinks the AMP3 is really inexpensive for what it gives ! At this price, you can't get much better. There aren't any used ones, because it has been launched quite recently..

If you ever want to try it out, make it so before the launching price dissapear (on Whiplash that is).

Right. They should start giving out DAPs for free.

A Sony Walkman may cost 2-3x the price of the amp3 yet sound nowhere near as good as the sound of the amp3.

The price of the HF-801 is very conceivable you cheapskate. Chances are good that it will be the best portable source SQ wise, period. I wouldn't be surprised if it blew the pants (chips?) off of the amp3 as well. Also as before stated, the price of the amp3 is not expensive. You have been here long enough but seem to not yet understand that this is an expensive hobby, and anything with less than four digits is -not- expensive. And on top of all of that the AD700 will see very little benefit from the amp since it is easy as pie to drive in the first place.

If you want a portable source for your AD700s, then get a sansa fuze or clip. I've used this combo a bit and it sounds perfectly fine. Your not going to get any improvement out of a portable amp, no matter how good. You might get some improvement out of a nice tube amp and fancy source but that's a few grands worth right there. A cowon U5 would work as well and I suspect the same for most all other PDAPs.

EDIT: That's an odd word to get picked up by the filter. Let's just swap that out.

EDIT 2: Let's add a bit on.

What proof do you have for this? Have you actually listened to both of them to come to this conclusion?

I think amp3 is really cheap for its offer .............

Look at other quality DAP, Sony X series, price, you will know amp3 is small cake in front of it

You should wait a little bit - save some more money and go for AMP3, if you can make a deal with Craig - you can ask him to keep one unit for 149. It's worth it. believe me.
Patience always brings best results. On the other hand you always can grab clip and don't bother. But i would save for AMP3, since you don't need to invest for some buds/phones additionally.

yeah, the stock earphones that comes to amp3 already has good sound quality, dont need to buy another cans if budget is not much. And what i love is the stock earphones is earbuds type, non iem (i dont like iem )

wonder what the best option is for delivery to uk/europe i.e by the time we get hammered for carrier/customs vat ect the price will be beyond the x series , i am hoping some trusted ebay sellers will appear in the future (stuff from china ect dosnt seem to get intercepted at customs well i never get a bill anyway)

You think $150 is too much to pay for a DAP + amp??? What planet are you on (and why are you so angry about things)? I might think $5 is too much to pay for a pair of jeans on sale with a coupon at a going out of business sale, but that doesn't mean I'm going to find a pair for any cheaper.

i payed a lot (55$) to get AMP3 into Denmark but to wait for some sellers in ebay is a good idea as well.

+1

This guy is insane. I've never seen a full-on MP3 player that's halfway decent for under $200 before, period. MP3 players are more expensive than other players. That's why when I was in early high school and didn't have much money, I got into minidisc, because it was a lot cheaper and was still just as functional (and much better than CD's!!).

I guess the amp3 is good if you want to go back 5+ years. And you like cheap asian stuff.

Ive never heard the amp3 so i cant comment on quality but the idea to me is exactly what i need i.e cut all the toys out and concentrate on sq at a decent price
