The sound didn't change in presentation in terms of forwardness/recessed. I switched back and forth several times.
I chose classical music for the reference to actual acoustic instruments over electronic/rock music.
This started me thinking: Perhaps the combination of a good isolation transformer + some sort of noise suppressor (like the K Works) on the secondary, to deal with the noise generated by each audio component and conducted back up the AC polluting one another, is a total solution for good power...

Also, note that Igor of K Works says that putting too much capacitance between neutral and ground at the system outlet can cause hum, but it is desirable to have that capacitance at outlets elsewhere in your house. He calls these the "Peripheral Silencers." Because isolation transformers pass through ground, it may still be of benefit to locate Peripheral Silencers (or something equivalent) around the house.
I was playing with different combinations of the System Silencer and Peripheral Silencers. The Peripheral Silencers seem to be more important than the System Silencer... using them alone made a bigger difference than the System Silencer alone (at least in the conditions of my apartment). Together, they brought on a kind of clarity and palpable presence that was amazing.
One great thing about them was that several recordings I tested, which I thought of as disappointing quality, became very enjoyable. For example, I have a recording of Alfred Brendl performing a Mozart concerto (#22) which has hard, glassy piano transients. Or so I thought. With the Silencers, the transients were still a bit too "hot" but didn't have the hard, glassy, unlistenable quality. The recording was quite enjoyable.
