Creative Gigaworks T3 + Styleaudio UD1

Hi guys, I recently just bought an UD1 but after plugging in there is a noticable drop in the volume output. Thought the music quality is much better as compared to my previous sound blaster live!, i now need to almost max my volume on PC and speaker controller and with my previous setup (T3 + sound blaster live!) i probably just need to turn my volume to 50% - 60% to enjoy the blast

Im wondering if this is normal? I read that since UD1 do not have an op amp, therefore its volume output is lower. If that is the case, is there anyway that i can connect my UD1 to my sound blaster live and use it togther? Pls advise, thanks!

Going from your old sound card into the UD1 would be pointless as it would nullify the improvement in quality that you got by skipping your soundcard's DAC (and looking at the specs of it, it doesn't seem to have any input but the USB, so that wouldn't be possible anyway).

In any case, you should have all volume controls in Windows at full (both in your media player, and the Windows mixer), and control the volume with the speakers only. If you didn't have your Windows volume at full before, then that would be your problem.

but i did experience quite an improvement in the sound quality especially the clarity of it. I dont really understand what you meant by skipping my sound card's dac. Anyone else to elaborate further? thanks!

ud-1's amp section is rather weak, that's y u get a drop in volume.

The increase in sound quality is becoz u have used a proper external usb DAC(go google it. if don't undrstd, just consider it as a better soundcard) instead of ur sound blaster(is it on-board?).

hanyou means,if u should get 2 max ur windows volume,n control ur volume at speaker side, T3 to get da best sound quality.

if u have max out everytg,da volume is still too low,

my suggestion is, u can get a amp to put between T3 n UD-1(connect ud-1 to amp using 3.5mm to rca cablei gez) ,but most probably it will be a sound quality decrease.

or get a headphone...
