Tube Amp Noise - Heaters?

Hey guys,

Tonight I fired up my Jolida 202 (Not "A") for the first time, with a used (hardly) matched quad of JJ EL34s and some brand-spankin'-old (NOS) 6N1 and 6N2 driver tubes.

However, I am hearing an odd sound, from the tubes, not the speaker outputs.

It's best described as being akin to the sound of a rolling boil (water). Is this just the sound of new tubes being broken-in? Or is something amiss....

I don't remember hearing this with my LD III. :/

FWIW, it's being burned-in driving a pair of 8-ohm power resistors with continuous sine waves from a function generator.

Maybe I should have put this in the Headphone Amp forum....

I suppose the sound is more metallic.. Could I be hearing some resonance, transferred through the bottles?
