The Asus Essence and the HT Omega Claro Halo use the same headphone amp, my question is: Is the HT CLARO HALO XT and the AKG K701 a good combo? Somebody tell me that is a bad idea because the Soundcard is unable to power the AKG correctly. My idea is replace the onboard soundcard and the JBL Reference 410 with the Halo an AKG

PD: Sorry for my strange english :P

How much power do a headphone need? My 850W PSU have at least 250W on the line I connected the soundcard too. I think it´s sufficient .

Do the Halo use the same opamps as well . But well I think it´s mostly the DAC part that does the magic. And the amp section isn´t ruin anything that´s for sure

I personally enjoyed the K701/Bada PH-12 combination for over a year.

well, any soundcard will fare better measurements than your onboard POS...that's for sure!

but the Claro Halo gives *VERY* bad IMD measurements in RMAA, identical to your onboard chip actually.

here's some food for thoughts, look at the IMD+N rates
