Help! Sansui amp speaker match

Hey all,

I recently bought an old Sansui 555A amplifier. Great condition, everything works perfectly, except for a couple of scratchy pots! Hopefully an easy fix with some deoxit.

Trying to match it with a decent set of speakers for a medium sized room. Budget is around AU$300 (US$250ish). Am I pricing too low for this amp or that about right? I was thinking second hand vintage speakers to match the amp. Will be using an ipod through the LOD and a rega P2 TT with an ortofon cartridge.

Suggestions? Are vintage B&O's or B&W a good option?

Thanks all!

I'll tell you what I know, which isn't much. IIRC the amp is 25w per channel, so you would need fairly efficient speakers. The amp is not from Sansui's best years and is not that highly rated. I'm not familiar with B&O speakers, but I would think that the B&W's would be a little bright. You may want to look for speakers with a "warm" tonal balance.
