Review: Lawton Audio LA7000 - Page 2

Resurrection.

I am resurrecting this thread because :

- I consider this to be one of the best examples of a review on Head-Fi, both from the perspective of the writing and because I consider the photography to be sensational

- I suspect that the Lawton phones, like many others, have been forgotten in the rush to the new orthos. Understandable, but they remain on my wishlist and. I suspect, one or two other folks wishlists.

- I hope to be able to send my D2Ks to Mark for 'the treatment' one fine day. One fine Lotto-winning day :)

I completely agree; this is one of my all time favorite HeadFi reviews.

Great review! It did not tire me out like some reviews I have read. Anybody know where I can listen to a Lawton phone? I will probably be at the next White Plains meet and at Canjam if it is in NYC. These phones have been one of my all time "dream" cans ever since I found head-fi. The combination of the descriptions of the sound and the gorgeous looks especially with the Jena cable just seem to be what a high end phone should be. I also feel like these are underrepresented on head-fi.

erik certainly did a nice job on this review, and IMHO the LA7000s certainly deserve more recognition.  

Yes, they are more costly, but the price of ALL production cans are getting higher with every new release.  

I have two pairs of LA7000, which Mark was so very kind to custom tune to my ears by adjusting the damping with repeated returns. and I LOVE 'em.  

My LCD-2 arrived last week, and I am still listening to my LA7000 full-time.  Maybe the new cable I ordered will bring the LCD-2 up to the LA7000 level in SQ (and surpass it in price!), but for comfort the LA7000 will still have the LCD-2 beat, by a mile, until there's a way to replace the hard earpads on the LCD-2.
