MOST OVERRATED

Who do tou think are the most overrated artists.This could be present or past.

At present I would go with Lady Gaga and Amy Winehouse.
Past , Britney , Pink and Kylie. (they manage to fit into present as well)

I'm going to get shot into tiny little meaty chunks for this but...

The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zep, Motorhead, Black Sabbath, The Rolling Stones and Elvis.

and

Radiohead, Blink 182, Fallout Boy, Greenday, Foo Fighters, Machinehead, The Mars Volta and Madonna.

I agree with most of Duggeh's list excepting the Stones....I have a soft spot for Gimme Shelter and Street Fighting Man.

I never cared for Love - Forever Changes (except the first track).

Have to disagree about the Stones but I guess I could see how one wouldn't like them.

I think THAY BRAN is pretty overrated.

Also, Duggeh, I agree with you 100% except for the bands you listed that I like.

There are many but these stand out based on constant radio airplay.

Past: The Rolling Stones, Kiss, Oasis, Pearl Jam (since TEN was re-released I will consider PJ as past),.

Present: Jonas Brothers, Taylor Swift, Dave Matthews Band, Tool (although I like them), The Mars Volta.

:/ As I'm sure is the case with most of the artists in this thread, you should really try listening to Wilco more often. Maybe I've just been listening to them for too long to accept any criticism, but they really do make phenomenal music.

That said, I've never understood what the big deal over The Smashing Pumpkins and Sonic Youth have been.

Most overrated has got to be John Eliot Gardiner. That guy can't conduct to save his life, I am yet to hear something from him which doesn't sound shallow.

Nope, officially gave up after Sky Blue Sky…sorry. Dig Mermaid Avenue, though there are other reasons for that.
