How does these cables fit?

Just wondering.

Does a cable such as this...

Ipod to LOD line out dock cable 3.5mm 1/8" lead amp on eBay (end time 31-Jul-09 15:13:19 BST)

...connect at one end to the line out of an mp3/ipod and directly into an amps headphone slot at the other end?.


Then would I also need to use a cable such as this...

2M GOLD 3.5mm STEREO JACK TO 2 RCA PHONO AUDIO LEAD on eBay (end time 12-Aug-09 11:41:24 BST)

...Connected at one end to an mp3/ipod's headphone socket and the amp at the other end?.

I think im mixed up a little...

Are these both different ways of connecting an mp3 to an amp?.

Ive actually just bought this cable...

iPod Line Out Dock to RCA Cable Amplifier AMP Stereo on eBay (end time 15-Aug-09 05:51:38 BST)

...which should give me the option of using either my mp3 players line out or with the other cable the headphone socket.

Does anyone know which would be the best to use, either the line out or the headphone socket?.

The first connector goes from the Line Out of an iPod to the Line In of a portable headphone amp. The cable you bought goes from the Line Out of your iPod to an RCA Line In of an a hi-fi or full-sized headphone amp.

Does this make sense?
