JMoney Denon Ear Pads - Page 9

Sound-wise, how do you think they compare to stock?

Gear mentioned in this thread:

i like them better sound-wise, i use them still. its just not an improvement in comfort. the leather ins't what you would consider soft, but its okay.

I have the V2. He said they were designed stiffer than V1 for durability purposes, but i dont know what to think. I enjoy their sonic characteristics though.

It really easy to replace the pad
1) Press flat down hard against the pad and turn counter clockwise.
2) Pull the old pad out.
3) Wrap the Jmoney pad to the plastic ring .... use two fingers under to hold the pad and the ring, use the other hand fingers to continue pulling and wrapping the ring.

4) Put the pad back and press flat down hard down and turn clockwise. Done...
AWESOME! I'm all thumbs when it comes to modding anything...hell, I break Ikea furniture.

Thanks for the work you put into the review! I just ordered my JMoney pads today from headroom (I'll be doing an unboxing video when I get them )

**Also, I have a question for you. I have a fiance and all, so don't take this the wrong way, but you could be one of those hand models for the shiny Apple products. . I'm jealous...I have stubby sausage fingers.

I don't think you did enough research about the pads.

They are easily 2-3 times as thick as stock pads, placing the drivers further from your ears creating a better soundstage and giving the sound more time to pan out. This creates a tighter bass, and brings the mids and highs forward making them more crisp and clear.

They are also something like 1/3 of the price of buying stock pads from Denon, yet they are real leather and will last much, much longer. So I don't think it's fair to complain about the price, if you have a problem with the price, use your stocks til they wear out then replace them with these.

^ I concur with Necrolic, the J$ pads are thicker and much more comfortable since the leather breathes better while the pleather just makes me sweat. Cost is also much lower a bit less than half if I recall correctly. I also found the bass to be tighter and more controlled.

Right on, guys. Got me plenty excited about receiving my first pair of V2's. Can't wait to hear how they attenuate on the D2000's/D5000's.

I can't wait to get my D7000 in April...and I will be ordering these pads!

Order them early and start breaking them in, I say.

That's exactly the problem I'm having with my D2000's. My ears get too damn hot and begin to perspire. It's frustrating at times because I have to remove the cans, let them sit on my shoulders for 5 or 10 minutes, then I can begin listening to them again.

The new pads can't get here any sooner.

I will listen to them with stock pads for a couple of weeks so that I can appreciate the difference when I place the new pads on. Looking forward to it.

You make some very good points, however I forgot to point out that I've already stuffed my stock earpads, and from measurements and pictures I've seen on this forum my 'stuffed' stock ones are the same thickness as these J$ pads. Second, I don't ever plan on having to replace earpads since I take care of my possessions, and I don't see myself having to get a replacement, though I guess if I do I will now have a backup pair of earpads. I don't have any kind of problems with my ears 'perspiring' or anything like that, so the new material will be fancy, but probably don't add much to the performance. Not to be negative, but I'm still kind of skeptical, as I feel that re-angling the cans by 10 degrees is such a minor factor in 'the big picture'. What do I know though? I have yet to receive these pads, and I am going to admit that I know next to nothing compared to the rest of the people on this forum.

I have a few questions though, do these J$ earpads change sound leakage at all? Also, does the new fit help with the slightly loose feeling of the headphones? For example, if I look at the floor below me, the headphones will slide down until the back of my ears are the only thing supporting them up. I was hoping a change of pads would fix the problem of these headphones sliding around my head.

The earholes are slightly smaller, too. I confirmed this with Jeremy to be by design...at first I thought mine were just a unique pair, but he said it's intentionally done to reduce bass bloat. I never thought the stock pads induced any bass bloat, but it's personal preference I guess.

Between the Markl mod and the jmoney pads, would it more or less be overkill in terms of reducing the bass for the D5000?

I would also be very interested in an answer to this. Are there many happen markl mod' owners that feel the J$ pads have made a significant improvement over the stock pads? Some have said that the pads focus the bass, somewhat due to a "tunneling" effect based on their increased depth and slightly smaller aperture. I assume this means that it makes the bass more focused and therefore stronger, in a more-controlled way.

Agreed

Owning the J$ pads as well and comparing stock to these, I absolutely agree with Necrolic's comments too.
