bad music or badly recorded music?

If you had to pick one, would you rather listen to a perfectly recorded piece of terrible music (i.e. jonas brothers or something) or a horribly recorded piece of good music (i.e. RHCP, beatles, etc.)

This is assuming you will listen through a very good speaker or headphone setup, with perfect transparency, detail, etc.

I'm asking because I feel like my taste in music has been changing ever since I bought a decent headphone/amp/dac setup. Right now I feel like I'd pick the first option (bad music). I'm curious if it's just me or if its normal around here

The good music. Although I am disappointed with the fact it might be recorded terribly I can still enjoy good music for being good music. And I'd be listening to the Vinyls if I had a perfect setup in which case it wouldn't be as bad. :P

Hearing sound or inquiring about music?
Because it is good there being a both, it isn't?

When sound is enjoyed, you write Japanese, music.
(Music="Ongaku")

It will enjoy.

Is there "bad" music? Or is it just that you don't like it?

At the end of the day it's down to the performance of the musician - a great performance, even if not well recorded, can still be a magic experience.

But - I have found myself listening to, and enjoying, music I had not given much time to before, since I tried really top-end headphones - I just got lost in the music.

Bad music, sound is everything!

This does become somewhat of a conundrum as you climb up the "hifi" ladder. Thankfully, the genre I listen to mostly - Electronic (Ambient, Techno, Glitch, some Dub Step) - are, generally speaking, very well engineered. I have found myself wincing at music that I like but has been engineered poorly.

I will not, however, listen to music that I personally don't enjoy just because it is well recorded. I appreciate the engineering aspect but I'm in this hobby to listen to the music I love.

Neither. I listen exclusively to good recordings of good music.

Good music. I listen to the old Mountain Goats stuff which is terribly recorded and derive much more enjoyment out of it than any Jonas Brothers song.

Good music. Guided by Voices "Alien Lanes" is one of my favorites as well as Pavement "Slanted and Enchanted". I guess I have learned to enjoy tape hiss as an instrumentation in its self. Low bit rate distortion/clipping on the other had is VERY annoying. This is an interesting question that I think all "audio enthusiasts" at least consider at some point.

Getting "lost" in Jonas Bro. music = Hell on Earth. Id rather be waterboarded at GitMo.

Good music. If recording quality supersedes music quality then you are doing it wrong. The whole point of hi fi is to bring you closer to music you love than you can get without hi fi.

beatles are not horribly recorded, in fact they are the best recorded music act of the 60s probably.

"Burnin' Up" and "SOS" are pretty catchy, but I prefer Demi Lovato.
