I bought a pair of Triple.fi 10 Pros in December 2008 and the other day, after about 4 hours continuous use, the bass drivers in both capsules just stopped working. This happened whilst I was using them with no audible cracks or pops.
I have never connected these to an amplifier, I have only ever used them with iPods and most recently my iPhone 3G. I also always keep them in the supplied tin when not in use
A few weeks ago, the original lead snapped so I swapped over the lead from my Super.fi 5 Pros.
I do a lot of walking, so I tend to use them at low levels for 2 - 3 hours per day. I also use Comply T-500 tips which I change about once per month. I listen to electronica and indie so nothing particularly out of the ordinary.
I have sent them back to UE via the original retailer, so a long wait and I'm back to the Super.fi 5 Pros. They are enjoyable, but nowhere near as refined as the Triple.fis.
Is this an unusual problem? I'd expect a 250GBP pair of IEMs to last a lot longer than 8 months.
I had a theory that perhaps they were damaged by a blast of RF from my iPhone?
