No, of course not. I was being a little facetious, and using hyperbole to make a point. But, as mike1127 pointed out, they both involve ridiculing a group of people, in part based on stereotyping.

Furthermore, my real point, I guess, is that it's sort of strange for people to come onto to this site and start posts with the express purpose of making fun of most or many of the people who started and now participate heavily on this forum. Imagine someone starting a thread on a wine taster's forum about how stupid it is that people spend a lot of money on good wine.

Look, I can take a joke as much as the next guy, and I don't want to extend my point too far. This really isn't that big a deal. I just think it's interesting that a certain subset of the "objectivists" on this forum are not content to engage in a dialogue about the substantive issues that underly this thread, but seem compelled to insult and make fun of others. I suspect most of these folks are a little immature or insecure (a characteristic that is arguably evidenced by your "ignorance" comment).

Oh well, another one is living in my head

Why do you think I laughed "so hard"? It was just funny, nothing extremely funny. That I keep making jokes about it is because the majority of cables manufacturers speak that way. I kind of continued the joke.

But then again your post sounded like a mock, and in the end it is me who doesn't know how to write english and makes other people feel insulted

you mean like ALO that will add a $350 killer Jena cable to your K702....but leave the stock cable between the 2 cups?

ppl who opened the K702 said that this wiring was really ugly

Well I laughed. A bit of self mocking does no harm. But I have two issues with the original post:

Firstly, you need a better marketing strategy to succeed in this venture. Create a high-end version of the tag by using a small LCD display, where you can dial in the $ amount to suit your mood. You could easily sell this for $500. Then you can offer a special Power Cable upgrade for the LCD, which will be well worth the extra $4,500 to create a better quality display.

Secondly, the idea that you need to spend at least $350 to get a good cable is just plain daft. This must be edited immediately to protect the innocent. The correct start point is actually $700.

That's a fair point. My immaturity and smugness are not immutable characteristics either, although I try to confine them to online fora. I should not have use "ignorance", but "belief in certain phenomena despite the lack of objective evidence or rational explanation for the existence of said phenomena" was too much to type at the time.

A nice smile.

In order to discover, you have to explore.

Why is this posted in the «Science» forum? Because even «scientists» need a little joking now and then? I for one think it tells its own story (about scientists and such).

As I've said before, scientists are human too, or so it's been alleged.

The word "scientist" has been used a lot in this sub-forum. I have a lot of respect for the men and women who dedicate their life to understanding a tiny bit of reality for the benefit of us all and our way of living. I would be extremely surprised if there were real scientists posting here, they have more important stuff to do, like - I dunno - curing cancer...

The postings in this forum tells absolutely nothing about real scientists.

I am an objectivist when it comes to the actual equipment and a subjectivist when it comes to how music is experienced (including effects of exchanging cables etc.). I'm certainly no scientist.

Depends on the product!

That's not true. I know there are a couple of Ph.D holders here (one in EE, I believe). Furthermore, in 5 years I hope to sitll be posting here and hold a doctrate/be in the research field. I think that most scientists refrain from posting the science forum b/c with people getting so defensive and (for lack of a better word) emotional, it is anything but scientific.

And, I have a question: Do you offer a string length upgrade? For example, if I buy that upgrade and one tag and then wrap it around 2 cables, will they both sound like $5000 cables? Or will they split it $2500/2500?

You need to pay extra for the optional splitter.
You should cut off some of the cotton dielectric. That will make the sound more transparent and add low-level detail.

There is no reason to confine this upgrade concept to cables. Some years ago, I bought a second-hand Mod Squad CDP. The unit was a reworked Magnavox, and the brand name was simply overlaid with a sticker which read "Mod Squad." Ditto for the remote.

So why not use this idea? Come up with a semi-well known brand name which is now defunct (to avoid legal problems), print up a slew of stickers (silver and black, natch), sell them for a reasonable price, and people can slap them on their BPC gear, DIY project, and anything else needing an upgrade.

How about Counterpoint - defunct, yes? Any others??
