I've been looking for a good <$150 DAC/amp for my computer. I haven't been able to find much.
iBasso D2 Boa (used)
Beresford 7510 (used)
HotAudio DAC Destroyer/Mark4/Bit Perfect
Only the Bit Perfect, D2, and 7510 have volume controls (highly valuable). I'm not particularly picky if they're desktop or portable amps, since I don't think I'll end up with a set of cans that'll ever need the full driving power of a desktop amp. I'm not even sure if I need the amp section at all, since I currently own a pair of Audiotechnica A700s (and later, at most, MS1s, K271S (I guess that'd need an amp though), A900).
My desktop has coaxial out, and my netbook, well, has USB.
Unless there are other recommendations, I think the D2 Boa will be best. Small, decent (I think) DAC and amp, USB input, and will be usable at university (as an amp for my Clip when I'm sitting down, or as a DAC/amp for my netbook). Oh yeah, and it looks nicer than those project box HotAudio DACs.
But I'd like a second opinion anyways.
(Mmm. Gotta love those in line resistors UE throws in with their IEMs. I can use it in an amp now! Say, does anybody think it's worth fitting Shure Black Olives on my SF3s, over the bi-flange silicones? They'd be easier to get into my ears, I think.)
