VNV Nation - Of Faith, Power and Glory

Hey all, I just picked up VNV's new album. Has anyone else had a chance to listen?

I'm rather liking it so far. There's a few really catchy songs (Tomorrow Never Comes, The Great Divide), a real clubby one (Sentinal), the obligatory introspective ballad (From My Hands) and the bizarre sound-effect one (Art of Conflict). All in all, typical VNV.

If I wasn't blasted by work and getting involved in a huge move this month I'd be all over those like stink on.. well, you know.

EDIT: Actually, you just gave me a brilliant idea. I'll fill you in on what it is if it pans out.

THEY HAVE A NEW ALBUM?

I need to subscribe to a newsletter or something. First Infected Mushroom, now VNV Nation...

Hehe. I was the same way. All I do now is look my favourite bands up on Wikipedia now and then, if they have an album in the works someone will add that to the page.

Also, I got the last 3 tickets for the show on Tuesday. I'm looking forward to it.

Good stuff man. By any chance, you interested in going to see Torche next Friday with a complete stranger? Cheap tix and one of the loudest shows on earth (I'll let you decide if that's a good thing).

1. I've never heard of Torche.
2. I've been procrastinating preparing to move for too long.
3. One concert a year is pretty much all my ears can take, on behalf of my poor, poor hearing.

Thanks for the offer though! I can't wait for the show - I've been listening to the Reformation live set in anticipation.

VNV? Start anywhere really. I think there's a lot of tracks that can be found online- just start with songs off their first CD and go from there.

Update: Awesome show! I'd strongly recommend seeing them. The opening bands (there were two of them?) weren't bad either- I wasn't that impressed with War Tapes but Ayria is completely up my alley- and they're from Toronto.

Matter + Form
Empires
Judgement, my favorite 3 albums in no particular order

New one has yet to grow on me but it certainly isn't bad

If you heard Sentinal live you might think differently. Easily one of the best songs they did, and the audience was having a ball.

And the singer was dancing not three feet from where I was at the VNV show.

EDIT: I realize this statement makes me sound lecherous. Nothing of the sort, I just thought it great that the band was opening for a band that they themselves were huge fans of.

I am not afraid to admit my total lechery toward Helen Mirra of Ladytron, though the upcoming court date has left me bummed.

VNV is quite the influential band in the darkwave circles, or should I say future pop, EBM, whatever. They kind of ushered in the whole new crop with Empires no?
