D2+ and IE8 synergy?

Hi all. I'm an IE8 owner and I'm considering buying a D2+ because of the wonderful things I've heard about it's SQ. How does the Cowon D2+ synergise with the IE8? Main factors I'm concerned with are the lows, the sparkly highs, and large soundstage as all of these factors are important for me - I'm not a vocal listener so vocals and mids don't need to be superb, as I hardly have any music around the mids, but it'll be nice.

nobody's heard this combo before?

The sub bass will be lacking a bit due to the IE8's being such low impedence but it's still a pretty good pairing. The highs sound good and vocals are fine. Sony players definitely have better lows with the IE8's.

Currently my setup is an iPod 5.5G Video 80GB, a DIY SxC ALO LOD and iBasso D10. My friend, who used to use a Cowon D2, said that D2 was super-exemplary and I would not be disappointed. He even said that the Cowon D2 was superior to the sound of the 5.5G iMod + Jumbo Cryo X Silver + iBasso D2/D3 (he has both amps). Which lead me to really think, is it really true? Can anyone comment on this? As in, if it truly can best the iMod, why bother iModding? Why bother with iBasso D10 + iRiver?

Recently I had the chance to compare my Sony X1060/IE8 combo with a friends D2/SA6, combo, we also tried the possible combinations.
I found the full and warm sounding IE8 combined rather well with the D2's lean and dynamic sound, bass was good too, but not outstanding.
I still preferred my Sony by a wide margin to the Cowon, but I think the IE8 supplements the D2 rather well.
Bear in mind that this was a short comparison, less then an hour, lots of swapping too.

I guess I'll just stick to the iMod route then :/

I have a D2 and IE8. They work just fine together I reckon.

The D2 is a little bit cold, and the IE8 is slightly on the warm side, so I find they work well.

The iMod will beat the D2 though.

that's what I thought too. But my friend begs to differ. He says that the iMod + his iBasso D3 amplifier and iBasso D2 amplifier (tested separately) don't sound as nice. Maybe he's one of those people who prefer the more analytical, cold, sterile sound?

I'm also a IE8 owner looking to buy the D2+. Judging this by charts of the D2+ and IE8, its frankly kind of scary the dropoffs you get in the sub bass with the D2+. Then there is the problem of the midbass hump becoming HUGE with the BBE+ sound enhancement.

Does anyone know how reliable frequency response charts are concerning actual SQ? Could the subbass be compensated by turning up the bass dial?

currently I use a combo Cowon D2+, P3 modded and IE8.. for my taste, this combo is really synergy..Using P3 makes mid, high and soundstage of IE8 to be better than IE8 directly connected to Cowon D2+...

I assume by "P3" you mean "iBasso P3 Heron" as opposed to "Samsung P3?"
