i'm still on the hunt for some on ear phones, tried the akg k450's which were "nice"
I currently have the sennheiser hd25 i 11 (pro edition) & 70ohm
while there are a lot of things to like about the sennheisers, i still am not 100% satisfied with the sound produced
I've tried them amped (fiio e11) and un-amped and through the same source - iphone 4, i've even re-ripped some of my music into loss-less to get a better (than 320kbps) quality.
Bass on the senn's are what I could describe as superb, mid's very very good, just seem a little recessed (imo), treble on the odd occasion could best be described as a little harsh.
I listen to mainly edm, from the last 16 years or so, which is my preferred music taste
Ideally i'd like something very close to the senn's with the same base, slight improvement on the mids and certainly a not so harsh treble - the treble varies per recording, hence re-ripping some of my music to try and help
what else could there be to try and get the best possible set of phones? I'd want supra-aural as well
I have listened to v-moda m80's - which were fairly decent, but open to more suggestions
I have never heard the HD25, but from what I've heard, it is somewhat similar in signature to the MDR-V6, and I've never considered the V6 to have harsh treble or recessed mids, really. It might be an option. I believe the HD25 is more resolving and detailed, but that may not necessarily be a problem. My girlfriend has Creative Aurvana Live!s, and they are a fair bit nicer than the V6s, those might work for you, too. The CAL!s have a bit more bass than the Sonys, but are very detailed and pleasant to listen to. That said, I have nowhere near Joker's level of experience or knowledge, so I'd take his advice well before mine! Just my two-cents.
