i think i agree with you. The graph looks flat because they have such a large scale. If you look at the numbers the difference between softest and loudest is around 5 db. Which is a lot. It basicly means that the difference is (alot) more then twice the amount of volume.

If you look at the hd800 graph at headroom you get a better sense of the scale.
