I appologise if anyone else has asked this question, I had a look through both the major Pl50 threads, but whats the deal with these weird looking tips?

Do they serve a special function? For really small ears?

Well, judging by the size of those, they are for really large ears. I reckon those are the supplied XL tips, but can't say for sure.

EDIT: Now that we are discussing the tips, how long will the supplied foam tips last? Can you buy spare foam tips anywhere?

How does compare to the ER6i?

I found these for £25 plus £4 shipping on amazon marketplace. its from hong kong.
I am very tempted to get these but then I could get the nuForce NE7s for £9 more.

SoundMagic will not provide to Focalprice if they sell them at 38$.

The retail price of PL50 in China is:380Yuan excluding shipping cost, which is:55.6$ (when you search "PL50" in www.taobao.com,you can see the price)

So the Pl50 sold as 49.99$ including shipping all over the world is really a nice price currently.

What are these like compared to the Senn IE8?

I'm considering getting a pair as I don't exactly want to take my IE8s to uni...

i used the weird looking tip on my M5 and it gave me a good seal.
it looked like a tyre inner tube where it sits just outside the ear canal
and the seal is perfect for me but if i use it on the PL50 it kept falling off....

What do you guys think? Is an amp necessary for electronic or rock, or is the PL50 just fine without it?
imo...it sure sounds fuller with an amp especially one that syn with it.
it syn perfectly with my little dot mk1*stock opamp*.

Should I order the PL50 and E5 from DealPerfect? That would bring me to a total of 50 euros. I think a little bass boost could never hurt.
hmm...i don't know coz the E5 doesn't add that much improvement as the mk1.

vast difference, IE8 is V shaped the pl-50 is mid centric with good highs. you will find it far far bass lighter than the IE8 (but then what isnt)

Will these be any good for electronic music?
Mainly listen to House and Trance.

i guess so they are quick enough for it but im not sure they really are bassy enough for electronic stuff. i never really listen to that sort of music and im not a bass head but its not going to be the ideal for it id have thought.

should be okay though but probably not my first choice for it
