blu tac doesnt work. i use it as a non slip on the bottom of my amp though. stops it sliding on my desk and when with my ipod. i did use something like fatcat's, but it snapped 
i might try elastic bands or hair scrunchies next.
i now just shuv my ipod and amp in the same pocket and take both out at once.
i keep my ipod in a silicon skin case for protection, and my amp in a small slip case to stop them getting scratched.
