SB Audigy 2 ZS support S/PDIF out??

does anyone know if it supports spdif optical out (i thought i read somewhere that it did)? i'm setting up my dac on my desktop pc, but i can't seem to get it to work. i tried connecting a mini-optical cable from the digital out of the sound card to the Beresford dac, but no sound is coming though. i usually see a red laser too when i have the cable connected to my laptop but i dont see it.

USB seems to work fine, but it doesn't seem to support ASIO or higher resolution files. please help.

edit: i'm running windows XP with the Creative drivers installed.

this is what the card looks like:

it doesn't say S/PDIF out, but i'm assuming the the last port on the far left which says "DIGITAL OUT" is the S/PDIF out. i tried connecting the mini-optical cable though that port, but not getting anything. i thought it was suppose to be plug and play?

nevermind i got USB to work fine with ASIO now...still want to figure out how to get the spdif out to work though.

Well, first of all, S/PDIF should output through the "digital out" port. It is not optical, it is coax, then there is also S/PDIF output on the SPDIF IO header on the back of the card and there is yet another s/pdif output on the top of the card. Pick one and use it.

so...are you saying it won't work with the mini-optical cable that i have? i didn't know sound cards were this complicated. when you speak of the headers i'm assuming you are talking about the pins? do i need jumpers for them or some kind of wire to connect it to something?? please be more specific (i am a newbie at this).

nevermind i figured it out...i guess it only supports S/PDIF coax out. i thought S/PDIF was optical only. i bought this and it works using a regular RCA digital coax cable.
