It says batteries not user replaceable, but in your photos it looks like you can. Does this mean Drew replaces them?

I think the better description is, that since they are rechargeable batteries installed, there is no need to replace them.

That is until the rechargeable batteries loose there ability to hold a charge. As always I recommend opening the unit from the rear, via the screws, to change the batteries. Less opportunity of scratching your case.

Drew,

So when I use it as a USB DAC+amp, will it use the USB power or still run by batteries?

Hi,

All is done through the batteries. The USB will only charge the batteries.
ie Without batteries the unit will not operate.

Rgds and happy listening.

Just received the v2 from Drew today and it's a wonderful amp, simply the best I've ever tried. I had the P51, SR71a and Pico before.

Thumb up for Drew for his detailed answers to my dumb questions

Since the iQube looks like a flask, I'm thinking a picture of it next to a bottle of Black Label might do it more justice
