If you guys are going to argue with each other, stick with PMs. I'm trying to do important research.

I completely agree. Disagreements are one thing, but back-and-forth OT personal battles are another. I've tidied up this thread a bit in hopes that it can now stay on-topic.

bba1973, I know you're cost conscious, which is a good thing, but I'd make sure you're buying from an authorized dealer. Just because a seller has good feeback on ebay is no guarantee you're getting what you're paying for (many people have no experience judging high-quality iems when leaving feedback). Just my two cents.

I do think most people who owned the SE530's and UM3X found the UM3X to be better, but certainly not all did. Based on technical data I'd imagine the UM3X is better due to no treble roll off, but top end stuff is mostly personal preference so I hope you'll like whichever one you buy.

Certainly. I've seen plenty of people leave positive feedback for fake rare CDs on ebay. Feedback isn't everything, but it's usually a good guide.

If I do get enough money for the UM3X, I'd definitely consider it, but it's another chunk out of my budget. The 3 might be a better option for me. If I'm going to spend that much, I might as well hear all the highs (do the Westone 3's have any treble roll-off or bass roll-off?).
