You will need to connect your iPod to a special dock such as the Wadia Digital 170iTransport in order to get a true digital signal feed to the UDAC. I don't have a Wadia myself, but it is reputed to be a very good product. So if your iPod music files are hi-rez (ALC, WAV, etc) to begin with, the Wadia should put out an excellent S/PDIF coaxial digital signal from your iPod that should rival a good CD. You will be throwing your money away on the UDAC/BUDA + HD800 if you just use the analog output from a regular iPod dock or just use MP3 files.

I just realized i had the money to buy this

BUDA UDAC Cardas Package | HeadRoom Audio

Having recently acquired a BUDA to complete the ultra desktop stack, I must say that this combination is astounding. I'm using hd800's with the cardas balanced cable and what I can say is the detail retrieval, clarity, soundstage and extension at both ends of the sonic spectrum are awe-inspiring. Is it perfect? That's a very subjective question, but to my ears its as close as I am going to get other than going to a live performance. With high quality recordings it is very soul stirring and musically satisfying. Need I say more?
I am now officially a Headroom fanboy!!!!!!!!!

If you have the money go for it. I don't think that you will be disappointed. This is a very high quality headphone rig that Headroom has put together. Let us know if/when you get it and if you do enjoy!

Is there any jitter issues w/the DAC using USB? Is it asynchronous?

Probably best asking Headroom. I doubt that we would really be able to tell any jitter problems that did not cause catastrophic errors to the signal. I use the USB myself but have not compared it with using a coaxial or optical feed.
