More comfortable alternative to ATH-ES7?

Thread Starter
Hey all. I bought a pair of ATH-ES7 and while they sound nice, they hurt my ears to much... just can't stand the clapping. I'm going to return them. So are there any good alternatives? I'd wouldn't mind spending up to $125ish.

I'm not a big fan of in-ear headphones... which is why I went with the ATH-ES7. I'd still prefer not to go that way, are there any over the ear headphones that are more portable? I'll be using them with my iPhone.

Music Preferences... electronic, pop, classical, a little rap/hip hop.

I've not heard the ES7s, but from what I can gather they have a more bassy sound signature. If that's what you're looking for, you might want to check out the AKG K450. I've had absolutely no pain and no problems wearing mine for hours at a stretch.

driftingbunnies compared them to the ES7 here: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f103/a...9/#post5795674

Just a note, if you try the headband adjustment "mod" on the ES7s, you may find them a lot more comfortable. Most people find that the ES7s clamping force is a bit too strong but bending the headband makes them a lot less tight and less weird looking on your head too.

Try headband adjustment. If not, +1 for AKG K450.

i did the mod too, it surely feels a lot less clamped on head
also it looks much better too as they don't 'point' out one the sides like before the mod

Well, I wanted to mention, but it seems that other people did already.
I own the ES7 and I never felt that the clamping force was too big, I actually liked it. But when applying the mod, it does stick out less, which I liked.

Search 'es7 headband mod':
