Bose? ...I didn't think it was legal to recommend Bose on these forums let alone speak of it.

All I'm saying is while the likes of K701 are excellent sounding flat cans I'm just not looking for that type of sound. Are you saying that Sens HD650 sound like Bose? The 650s are colored and anything but flat yet people love them, and I'm looking for that similar sound signature. To reiterate, the 580s and 600s are more neutral and flat whereas the 650s have that oomph.

I would take a good look into the ne7m. They definitely have more bass than your typical analytical iem but it's still in control. It has a pleasing warm signature without sacrificing detail.

Stay away from the ue sf3 and the altec lansing uhp336. They are very veiled and the high end is almost chopped off. The low impedance and high sensitivity means they are intolerable out of a DAP because of the hiss. The ne7 are far superior at any price.

I've got the UHP336's, and they're great for what I listen to (mostly classic rock). They don't have a whole lot of bass, but it's definitely good bass. Chris Squire and Jaco Pastorius sound great with them, but rap and stuff like that is somewhat lacking. If you want "boom" as opposed to real bass, get something different.

That was an attempt at some tongue-in-cheek. Obviously I don't like coloration at all, and the bose are about as bad as it gets.

Totally agree with this. I got rid of my UHP336's in a hurry because this hiss was intolerable and the emphasis too low for my taste anyway. Still tell people to take a look at them because I seem to be in the minority.

My BSG cmoy completely eliminated the hiss I got out of mine. It's dead quiet when I hit pause.

Yes, the UHP's just have really poor synergy with Fiio amps. And also my Total Airhead. And my friend's Nuforce Icon.

Anyway, it's no big loss as I didn't like the sound anyway.
