pops\clicks while listening (foobar + emu usb 0404) - Page 2

Play with your latency settings in Foobar as this is most likely the cause of the pops. I had the exact same problem on my last windows laptop, I got rid of it by switching to a MacBook Pro

I have used an EMU 1212M on XP and Vista for years with no issues.

Now on my x64 Windows 7 install with a 1616M I am hearing a click every couple of minutes, like a static discharge. I tried Toslink out of the 1616M dock and still heard it. I have upped the latency on the EMU control panel and I'm hearing the clicks through my NOVA DAC. I need to isolate the 1616M, and test with the headhphone jack on it; maybe it's the NOVA. I had been using 24/96 (some native and most upsampled by PC - in J. river) for weeks w/o issue. Hearing clicks using 44kHz too. I've run the DPC latency checker and I'm in the green as expected.

If I don't hear it on the 1616M headphone out can I assume the NOVA is causing the issue? I'm not sure. Still could be an issue with S/PDIF coax out of the 1616M I think.

If different latency/buffering setting do not help:

I have tested the 1616M Microdock as well as the 02 daughter card; each have their own Tos/Coax digtial outputs. I get clicks on both but none yet with the onboard Realtek Toslink output!

I am using Windows 7 x64. I am planning on testing another digital cable and then installing Windows 7 x86.

This worked for me. Foobar was skipping/dropping out on me every few minutes and I tried all latency settings, DSP's ets with no luck. Ended up running this app and in the end it was my wireless driver causing it. After messing around with this off and on the last couple of weeks with no luck this was a welcome find.

What is this "this"?

You mean that wasn't clear enough...
I ran the DPC latency checker: DPC Latency Checker
and found out my "skips" were being caused by spikes associated with my wireless card/driver. I now disable this whenever I listen to music (use the hard-wire connection instead) and my problem has completely disappeared.

In my case (laptop) the problem was with the ac power - on battery power all the noise disappeared.
