From HD650 to AD2000? - Page 2

OP: I'm gonna say what I say in pretty much every recommend-me-a-headphone thread. Get cheaper headphones, and get a better source.

You know what great headphones sound like from a crappy cheap source or mismatched amp? They sound like crappy cheap headphones. Why do you think people like Tyll and Gilmore like the HD800s, while some new kids immediately get them and complain about bass quantity or treble sibilance or whatever?

Do yourself a favor: get a Pico DAC and SR225s. If you really do want the AD2000s, then sell your other stuff, get a Pico DAC and Gilmore Lite. The C2C doesn't exactly have a sterling rep with folks that I'd actually listen to.

BTW, I own both HD650 and AD2000.

I usually don't vouch for headphones since I buy and sell so quickly. But having owned the Sennheiser HD650/600/580 five time (within 6 months)..the AD2000 ended that downward spiral. Why five times? Because I wasn't happy with the synergy between the Senn and Zana Deux. It was reference quality but it was uninvolving. With the AD2000, I was immensely satisfied with the liveliness of the synergy. I couldn't be happier with the sound right now. Keep in mind, I try to emulate my setup after Craig since he owns a pair of AD2000 with the ZD as well. I can't speak for other amp/source links, but many people are happy with the synergy between the two.

Did you experience the same issues that some AD2000 owners complain about, such as the fit/sound staging/mid-range problems?

Would it be appropriate to say that the HD600 is in between the sound signature of the AD2000 and the HD650?
