DT880?

I'm about to pull the trigger on some Beyer DT880's but have a couple of questions. The most likely candidate I will buy them from is Headroom since they seem to have a pretty reasonable price. My question is what is the difference between the DT880 and 880 Pro that is listed on the official Beyer website. The headroom site doesn't even list the 880 Pro and the regular 880 isn't listed on the Beyer site so is one a newer design or what? I'm kind of confused about this? I found the same thing on Amazon. All the specs seem to be the same just the 880 Pros look different then the regular 880. Anyone know the differences and whether the 880 listed on the Headroom site is the most recent there is?

pro is more rugged, has a tighter fit, and its more user serviceable, its made fro pro environments so they take a beating better. Also some say they are more analytical sounding.
non-pro is more comfortable and a bit more refined in its looks. If you have the cash and an amp, I suggest going for the 600ohm manufaktur version.
good choice!

I've never even seen the 600 Ohm version for sale anywhere unless the 880 Pro is the 600 Ohm version? I use a Solo SRG so I'm sure If I ended up with the 600 Ohm I wouldn't have to much trouble ampling them.

You can only get them direct from Beyerdynamic's Manufaktur program. They are really a step up in balance, specially in the highs, I think they are totally worth the extra dough!

I also have the Solo SRG, and out the SS amps ive heard it is the one that makes the 600ohm sing better, I guess its due to the signature sweetness of GS. Its a very good pairing, however, I still prefer them with tubes.

Nono, Moon Audio has them for a very good $319.

Beyerdynamic Headphones

600 ohm Beyers = the best of all the DT880's tbh.

My apologies.... but lets say that the Manufaktur program gives you the advantage of real customization for $30 more....

1 second GuyDebord. BT880-600ohms reveals a lot of clairty and details. Sounstage is wider than the 250 and its not laid back. Surprises ! I used to conclude on Beyer line based on the BT880 250ohms( very laid back) and Bt 990( SIBIiences... Ssssss) ..but ever since i listened to the BT880 600 ohms.. i have a urge to own one ... its really is much much different..

If you don't have a powerful amp, forget the DT880. Also, they are semi-open, so they may not work well for travel.

880 for travel seems like a terrible idea. Search for "closed headphones" instead.

thanks for the quick feedback. any recommendations on what i should look at?

No clue, I dunno what kind of songs you listen to or what kind of sound you prefer.

Really, try searching the forum for "closed headphones", maybe add in your budget as a paramater.
