But without knowing what music the OP listens to, I'm hesitant to recommend it.

So what music do you listen to OP?
Lately, I've been listening to Steely Dan, Kid Cudi, Jamiroquai, some House music, Jurassic 5, to give some examples by volume in that order. I'm hesitant to go with the lambdas because well I think they are kind of ugly, which means some to me, although I am sure they are a fantastic deal.

This is coming from someone who owns a LOD and portable amp and doesn't use either of them, ever.

For a source I have 320kbps recordings on a desktop with a dedicated sound card(not the motherboard) and I run a digital coax cable to my receiver in PCM 96 + dolby digital pro logic. This is what my 5.1 speaker setup is provided with and the receiver I intended on trying out with the 650s. I would also have to agree about the LOD and portable amp comment, by which I think you mean I should get 2 rigs, one for home and one portable. The one at home which is my main focus, I'll take care of the ipod later.

Sooo Update! I just went and purchased a brand new set of hd-650s I decided to support my local Hi-fi store, plus they're authorized senn dealers and I do other hifi/av shopping there too, soooo in short they're order and I'll find out on tuesday as to how long it's going to take to get them in, but I am super pumped to get them and test them out
