Initial Impressions of the Beyerdynamic DT48E, 25 OHM - Page 2

As long as we're talking about music that works well with the DT48, I'll recommend Spirit of Eden (album) by Talk Talk. Sounds fantastic with my setup.

Sounds a lot like my DT100.
Also a mid focussed and bass lean headphone with good detail retreival.

Might as well recommend Talk Talk's Laughing Stock as well. Both are great albums.

Drums seem right to me, as I hear them being played in a room. But having deep bass with great extension is more pleasing and enjoyable, even if it's more of the headphone then the actual recording.
so the dt48s have less bass than ad700s?

I could listen to both of them side-by-side right now and answer that for you if you want.

Hell, I'll do it anyway, lol.

Edit: It would seem that way, yes.

Wish I still had my pair to do a A/B. Of memory, yes, and the AD700 bass seemed fuller and is noticeably richer.. The AD700 is delicate and 'slow' in comparison. The DT48 bass hits you in rapid sessions.. Is faster, snappier, tighter, and dare I say punchier with some recordings.. It's really hard to gauge since bass out put REALLY depends on the source. I know you feel the AD900 gets the music just right, so you mind find the DT48 to be awful in comparison, since they are the total opposite of the AD900.

I really wouldn't call the DT48e bass lean. Bass is light, with little impact, but still sounds full..

Talk Talk is still around? I loved the song Talk Talk by Talk Talk. Nice Synth work. It's my life is also good. If you bring up Golden Earring and Flock of Seagulls, then you are taking me way back.

Their old stuff and their later stuff sound nothing alike. Spirit of Eden is basically post-rock, and sounds very soft/natural. It's a beautiful album, but has nothing in common with their synth pop roots.
