I know the 1st product is active and the second one is passive but whats the difference, what is better.

Have you looked at the TC Electronics Level Pilot, a passive controller knob with xlr input and output. I have just purchased one and works flawlessly with active speakers.

Thank you for your response. Actually I have but theres was no feedback from users until now. You did have to buy additional cables though right?

The Level pilot has about a metre cable attached to it with the input/outputs, the length is fine going to the DACMagic but the output xlr's are to short so male to female xlr's were needed to position the speakers about 2 metres apart.
