If matching and mating hifi equipment was my main hobby, I might be willing to spend my time and money changing equipment and selling it off in a neverending quest for the holy grail. However, it is not. I am hoping to find something within my budget, keeping an eye on the point of diminishing returns. At the moment, I don't think my Rotel 1072 does justice to my Spendor/Plinius. Hence, my search for replacement source.
What caught my eye were the many professional reviews that claim these $400-600 DACs were just as good as multi-k cd players. I would be a fool not to check these claims out.
In the meantime, because I've learnt quite a bit from this forum, this thread is to share my experience to give something back.
