Each bass note has it's own tone, space, and direction as does each vocalist and guitar etc. Fast and complex stuff is well done since the bass is quick tight and well resolved and separation is so well done. No smear and it still delineates well with distinct tone and impact differences on the low end easily heard.
Agree with you there. I have had these now for a little under two weeks and they have been great. I did not get it with the E5, which at the time i regretted as i thought the bass would not be enough to my liking, but even without the E5, the bass is quite kicking.

The tips could be a little nicer, but they sit well for the most part.

Just an update, tried them with the little caps that can be screwed on the earphones and noticed the highs reduced a little and a bit more bass, but only very slightly.

I'm glad I got mine with the E5, they really do work well together (not to mention my headphone out is close to dying on my Ipod)... They were my primary portable, while I was waiting for my Super.fi 3s and EP4s to come back. I really liked them, and they are very comfortable. I unfortunately lost one of the double flanged tips, so I had to go back to the orange tips.

I also like that they are pretty comfortable to sleep/ rest with. If I want pronounced bass, I'll go with these; if I am walking to class I'll either go with the Betas or SF3s; if I am traveling or listening in my room (isolation needed) I'll go with the ER4s.

I don't have time to do any type of in-depth review, but basically it would be summed up to me saying, "if you don't have am amp, gett he E5 combo; if you don't have a 'workout' bud, get them. They are worth the price."

(By the way, the E5s seem to have pushed the quality and volumes of some frequencies of both the SF3s and ER4s)

I have an E3 amp coming now from a friend, i hope they can push the bass a much as an E5 would on the Betas.

Just my quick review

Look and build quality The earbuds are nicely shaped and attractive, they have a nice build quality, but the cables are a bit thin.

Tips They came with a few tips, the orange cones work well in my ears and feel comfortable, the foam tips have a bad fit and really ruins the sound.

Comfort No complaints, they stay well in my ears and don't hurt.

Isolation Pretty good, i get a good seal with all the tips (apart from the foam ones) and outside is all together blocked out.

Sound Quality Highs and mids sound good on this, like everyone else has pointed out. With the E5 the bass is really nice, without the bass is less but still nice.

Overall: Worth the price, happy with the sound quality and would recommend for those wanting a low cost pair of buds with decent sound.

Do these compare at all with RE0, which as i understand, is one of the high end dynamic driver models? something on the subject was posted earlier in the thread, but i want to know, is the price difference exactly the difference in sound?

the RE0 original price ~$200 ($99 summer sale)

and the significantly cheaper brainwavz at $35

And on durability, would these be good for daily pocket use for a teenager? (with my younger brother in mind)

The Brainwavz seem like one of the more durable cheaper models. Very solid construction.

I would say that the RE0 are 3x the price and 3x as good. Or the Brainwavz are 1/3 as good and similar and maybe still slightly lower SQ than the RE2. The RE2 at $39 and with improved build quality could be considered also.

Those two have a similar sound signature to the RE0 but don't compare that well/come up noticeably short to the RE0.

So... the build quality AND sound quality are better in the RE2?

I am not exactly gentle with my pair of Betas and they do not seem to be worse for the wear.

They are quite durable although i have gotten some scratches on them and their shiny black paint does dull after sometime.

How would these compare to the PL-21's from Sound Magic?

I am ready to pull the trigger on a sub-$30 set of earbuds. Not a basshead, but definitely sensitive to overbright treble.

Thanks!

Started to use these with the filter caps that came with them, i have found them to tame the mids and highs and increase the bass. I rather prefer them with the filters now that without. I also was able to get the foam eartips to better work with the filters on, i think they may have been designed to be used when the filters are on only. Now the tips stay in my ears and i get a good seal. I also feel that the foam tips enhance the bass a little more too.
