I was so glad when they arrived. Ive been without headphones for about 2 1/2 weeks. My old cx300b was sucked up by a vacuum.
Anyways, when they arrived I pulled them straight from the box and gave them a listen. I wasn't impressed at first. To me, the highs seemed a bit muffled and the mids were very prominent. I didnt like at all to be honest.
They have a tag on them saying that they should be burned in for 8-10 hours to sounds there best. I let them sit attached to my computer with pink noise being played through on an endless loop for about 3 hours and gave it another try cause I couldnt wait any longer.
Let me tell you, they sound a boat load better now. The highs sound a bit more natural and the mids arent as over-bearing. They have very punchy bass when it comes to bass drums. I havnt tried them with boomy rap yet so I cannot comment on how they perform with that. I got them off woot for a total of 17.99. They were definitely worth it. I think they are quite comparable to my old cx300 which I payed $80 dollars for two years ago. I really liked my sennheisers, I think these are just as good for a fraction of the price.
The only issues I am having with them is the silicon ear cushions. Im using the largest one and they are borderline to small. I can still get a good seal though. If they were slightly larger they would be perfect.
I only bought these as I was planning to buy something higher end later (klipsch custom 3 or the monster turbine) on but wanted something now that I could listen to till I had enough money for either of those. To be honest, Im questioning myself as to whether I should pay for something thats 6-7 times as expensive as these when I am quite satisfied with how these sound.

) and I must say first of all that the build quality is excellent. I have some reservations on the quality of the iM-290, but these appear to have very good fit and finish. I also find that the design appears much more understated and classy in person, as I think the pictures make the phones look cheap and tacky; pics don't do these justice.
