The Pixies- Minotaur

Minotaur Maps Pixies’ Massive Pop-Punk Influence | Underwire | Wired.com

Interesting but VERY pricey even at the lower $175 set. Having become a victim of the Neil Young Blu Ray scam (though i do think they sound superb, i think it may be a wallet-placebo effect) I wonder if the Blu Ray in this set sounds different.

Though i love the Pixies, I dont associate them with HiFi sound.

Anybody going to pick this up?

I'm a Pixie's fan, but will not be picking up that up.

I'll pass on it.

I'm sure that this stuff will appeal to a segment of completist fans who must have absolutely everything. But to me it is mostly about the music and I am quite happy with my Pixies vinyl and the three MoFi Hybrid SACDs that I have (Surfer Rosa, Doolittle, and Bossanova). Honestly I don't see a need for anything else.

I don't know how it escaped my attention that the BD's will have a lossless 5.1 mix for each album! That's could push me over for $175. Amazon has it listed for $250. That's getting close to no go. You have to draw the line somewhere, but I bet the private marketplace will have a good deal or two.

My local record shop is going to be getting these in and so I'm in wait and see mode. The owner is a huge Pixies fan as well.

I'll see how they price it before I make up my mind. If it's close I'll probably pick it up from them (i like to support the mom and pop shops)

whoa thats pricey. I love the pixies, but putting down 90$ for the Mofi pressings are pretty much it for me.

Ill pass on that one

I don't know... I actually might spring for these... but I'll wait for the impressions. Although there shouldn't be any surprises, no remasters and no b sides/rarities.

The article piqued my interest. I have been a huge Pixies fan for a while now. They were the first band I really loved (I think). Something about their sound is just so unique and endearing; I can listen to them anytime.

I own all of their albums, but I will be thinking about picking this up. The presentation does sound really nice, and I guess that's the selling point.

It would also be cool to own the blu-ray discs and the vinyls (although I can't currently listen to either of these sources)

edit : I was reading this thread earlier and put on Surfer Rosa. I don't think I've listened to it through my grados...

awesome.

I would probably buy it if i could get just doolittle, its the only pixies album ive ever really listened to. Though i guess there is another solution, and thats to listen to the rest of them haha does anyone know if the blue rays are gonna have video of some kind just with 5.1 PCM lossless or if its gonna be a audio blu ray? i dont really know how that works in the blu ray spec. i wonder if its like DVD-A where you you needed a player that could do it.

These just hit the street yesterday, anyone get it? Reports on overall set quality, sound quality, ratings of extras like the live DVD?

I would guess that each of these will be released in the coming months in individual CD's, I might pick them up seperately, as I am not a rabid Pixies fan.
