It's been dampened with foam and dynamat. The bass is much tighter with the modifications, still slightly boomy, but goes very low. They're built like tanks and are probably most widely sold headphone ever (these are the headphones that you'll hear when you go into music stores, etc.).
MSRP on these are $179.99 but last I saw this was on sale for $70 I believe. I'm open to most anything, NOT LIMITED JUST TO HEADPHONES (nothing lame though
