Impressions of K1000s compared to HD800s - Page 2

Thanks for the review. It's too bad you didn't have a speaker amp for the K-1000s. The B22 doesn't really make them blossom IMO

Nicely edited, but I got it. The Beta22 can be/is a speaker amp.

LOL - I didn't want to be negative. So, I took it out, but the B22/K-1000 combo didn't provide the dynamics and seemed to hold them back compared to most speaker amps.

And I do know it can be used as a speaker amp but it's not a combo that would want me to stop upgrading for the K-1000s. For the HD600 and HD800 I'd say it would difinitely satisfy.

I'm still waiting for a solid K-1000 and HD800 review where both are amped right... - I am really interested in the HD800.

I had my first listen to the HD800 balanced via my Beta 22 last night, I’m hanging out to get home tonight and have a second bash.

Thanks a lot for the review!
Been waiting some days for the first one to appear..

The β22 is a really nice amplifier, but I too think a "real" speaker amplifier have the edge on it when it comes to driving the K1000. Do not get me wrong, the β22/K1000 combo sound stunning. But it can do more...

I wonder what the K1000s would sound like driven by my Bryston 4bsst? Fitz?

Been there, done that. The amps that brought out the best in the F1 were the EAR HP4 and Singlepower SDS. There is a flatness in the midrange of the F1 that never went away, no matter what kind of amp I threw at it. I do suspect that a recabling of the headphone might help a bit, but never got around to it while I owned the F1. In stock form, the headphone will scale with the amp and source up to a point, but not past a certain level. I'd love to see the concept of the F1 taken to the next level.

It was clear to me that the best system for one would not be ideal for the other. But that's no surprise. For those who have spend years and many thousands building the perfect system for their K1000s, trying to implement the HD800s could be frustrating.
