Yeah I know but there are things like BA/dynamic hybrids, crossways...

While headphones are always of moving coils (I mean dynamic phones here).

As long as good phones provide good SQ I dont care what technologies they imply though

I would like to get them first hand too! Although this is new but it seems promising, to me

But I have my IE8 on the way...

Hello All,

This is my first post on this fantastic forum, be gentle with me!

I recently purchased a pair of the Ortofon e-Q7 IEM's, and I did so after trying a number of other IEM's. Thankfully I was able to try the main three I was interested in side by side and I have to say I preferred the Ortofon.

The build quality of the e-Q7 is way above all the others, the case and packaging are all fantastic and the sound to me is easier to listen to in my opinion.

The other two I tried (Shure SE530 and Westone W3) were both a little difficult to get into my ear, where as the Ortofon went straight in and sounded great the minute they were in. The others I had to fiddle with too much to get them in correctly and to sound any good, which they did, I simply preferred the Ortofon.

Plus the Ortofon was cheaper!

Well, the first thing I noticed after trying the other two, is MASSIVE bass: no fiddling and adjusting, just big DYNAMIC bottom end, VERY dynamic bottom end, not wooly or flabby at all. And importantly it does not swamp the midrange detail, it is still all there.

In comparison to the others the midrange is perhaps a little recessed at first, but I felt that on a long listening session they would be less fatiguing than the others, and that has proven to be true.

I know the others SHOULD sound better being triple drivers and all, but I simply found the Ortofon easier to listen to, easier to fit, and extremely dynamic in terms of sound.

I think that if you want absolute midrange detail then the Shure is probably YOUR headphone, but I also think that it could get fatiguing. If it wasn't for the Ortofon, I probably would have bought the Westone W3. But.....

Wow at last a Ortofon's owner appeared!

I have seen reviews on Japanese site saying it has a massive soundstage too. What do you think?

Yes, agree, but it is their dynamics and big bottom that really impress!

Hm, i got to listen to them for some 15-20 min.. sounds pretty balanced, opposite as to what Benjamin-Edwards suggest. I had a short a/b with TF10pro as well:

1. it has less bass quantity than TF10pro, tho it seems to extend low. TF10pro low end sounds rather boomy and warm in comparison.
2. mids are more prominent than TF10pro, vocals more in your face.
3. highs not as refined as TF10pro

Summarizing my impressions: if TF10pro has a V-shaped frequency response, E-Q7 is flat. Overall clarity wise they're quite equal, with different focus.

Okay, so where can someone who lives in the USA order these? I've googled a ton tonight and haven't found anywhere. I'm curious to perhaps give these a try. They don't seem to be available on pricejapan.com anymore....

They are not easy to find anywhere I think because they are so new, I got mine here in Australia from Wicked Digital, perhaps ask them if they will ship to the USA?

Thanks for the info. I will inquire with them about shipping to the USA. Everything I've read about them suggests they play way up in the top of the universal IEM league.

Still finding them to be so positive a listening experience?

How are you finding them?
I have to say I am loving them even more now, the burn in that they have now had seems to have made them even smoother than I first thought. They were certainly the right choice for me and with time I have confirmed my original thoughts, these are the best IEM on the market...for my listening needs anyway!

Just contact PriceJapan.com for a quote via the webform. They will get you anything, even if not listed on their site. I got mine within 5 days to Europe, very fast and good communication, too.
