Has anyone tried the 880's with any of Garage1217's amps? I'm looking to get a Polaris and was curious as to how they pair.

Stuck for entertainment? Well, I could juggle 4 oranges whilst balancing a broom handle on my nose. I could solve a Rubik's Cube puzzle in 14 seconds. No, wait, I have a DT880 Pro--maybe I could talk about that.

Nah, too boring...   :D

To be serious for a moment (but only a moment) I think it's a mistake to try to rigidly restrict subject matter. If someone keeps posting about their hot car or their rose garden, then yes, it's appropriate to remind them that this isn't a car or garden forum. But a discussion about how long to audition unappealing headphones before giving up and offering them for sale is hardly OT in a headphone forum. We're a mixed bunch here from different countries and with different outlooks and agenders. We're never going to post strictly on topic all the time.

That said, even I've been guilty of trying to gently nudge the subject back to headphones when it got stuck on amps for a little too long. But the operative word is 'gently'. I have no right to tell anyone what they should or shouldn't talk about, and nor does anyone else except perhaps, in specific areas, the moderators.

+1 Agreed.

LOL, if you think this thread gets derailed and off-subject a lot, you should check out the HD650 thread. Only about 5% of the posts there are audio related, the rest are just old men blabbering on about nonsense.

The concept of democracy does not mean that my ignorance is identical to your expertise. Yes, all our posts look alike. This doesn't mean the people behind the monikers carry the same knowledge regarding audio. If you'd put in the time and effort over several decades - not to mention depriving oneself in order to save for a given upgrade - you'd have the experience, as well. But, you didn't. Someone else did that. Honestly, I don't understand why this isn't brutally obvious.

Good luck to you. smily_headphones1.gif

I think Shaffer may have been stalking you, Cadcam. He seems to know more about you than you know about yourself.
