See it's comments like that, that I enjoy hearing. As some one who wants to try the LCD XC, to hear its leagues above the dt 880, and hopefully has the dt 880s blanced freqancy response, makes me a happy camper

I am pretty interested right now in the dt 880's since the premium 250 ohm version is $240 right now on amazon, however I really like breathy forward mids I'm assuming no amp pairing or tube amp can change the sound ? How well do these pair with the fiio x3, I am specifically referring to the 250 ohm version.

Agreed. I will stay with my Duet 2. I stopped listening to music several weeks ago. Today I started listening again. I was blown away. I forget how good these phones are compared to others.

The X3 is very nice with the DT880 250's, I run mine through the E12 as well so I don't have to switch the X3 into high gain battery chewer mode...

Thanks! The case is from Nerb Handcraft in Thailand. (Info in Sig)

I put the Tiny xlr's in myself, they are only balanced as far as the TRS jack on the end, it would need to be replaced to easily convert them to fully balanced, plus an amp and a source etc... :)

Originally I just wanted a detachable cable and it just so happens that an LCD cable fit's the bill perfectly, so I made the DT880's dual entry to accommodate the new cable. Since it has a permanent 6.55mm end now, I required the Grado mini adapter when I picked up the X2/E12 combo.

I actually tried doing that (expect I wanted it to be a single-sided 3.5mm). Opened the drivers. Got scared. Put it back on. I can't do this to my beloved Beyers biggrin.gif
