If you want you can get a tube amp which can add some warmth to the sound a little. The LittleDot mk2 is a great amp to start with (which ohm version do you have btw?) I'm not as experienced with tube rolling as some other members here so I'll leave that to them biggrin.gif

There is a gently used Little Dot MK III in the for sale section right now.

Lake People G109-S is the fourth amp tested with my Premium DT880/600 ohms, after Rega Ear mk2, Torpedo and Valhalla the quest end here.

To my ears this is the winner. Clear, detailed and neutral sound + solid state + enough power, I can't ask anything more. Probably the Violectric series will be also better.. but my wallet disagree.

Now it's time to focus on the music :)

Good to know i've done some reading and most of the HP being mention are those T1,HD6XX and HD8XX Thanks!

Does the CRACK bring a bit of BASS for the DT?

Yes, but I am firmly in the camp that the stock 880 pads suck the bass out of the awesome 880 bass.  as an experiment before you drop your cash on a new amp, try covering the outside of the pads with some kind of tape, leaving about 1/3 of the pad uncovered next to your ears.  See if it gives you more of the bass bloom your looking for.  I did this with electrical tape, and it did the trick for me.

the expensive way to do this is to get a pair of the discontinued JMoney pads, which are said to be the best for the 880, or the Lawton pads, which are also too expensive, but are said to perform similarly..

I personally won't pay the insulting prices for new pads.  I'm happy with the electrical tape.

^ I'm going to try this.

Hey guys, if you've been following this thread and your memory's good, you'll remember I've been comparing a pair of Sennheiser HD 650s. Here are my conclusions:

I have the 250-ohm DT880s. This one headphone amp has a headphone output impedance of 30 ohm and line out of 80 ohms. I can see where my Beyers qualify for the headphone out. Is there any way I can use the line out with my headphones? I know the 8 times rule which would require the headphones to have an impedance of 640 ohms. Maybe will not work. But the line out has a better quality DAC.

Can you clarify a little?  If you are talking one device - and you're either going line-out or headphone out, then both are using the same DAC - the difference is in the amp.  The line-out will be a constant signal which may be bypassing the internal amp.

If you can clarify the question - I'm sure someone can help.
