From an E10, went to the Odac. Didn't think a 60$ would make such a difference in my setup.

Highly recommenced if you only need USB.

I'm expecting my 880's very shortly...and interested at length of burn in time...sensitivity...balance and tonal qualities...with Classical...Solo Piano...Big Band...Acid Jazz...and Electronic genres of music. Cheers...Headshot65

:O even I wouldn't sell my DT880s.

I've been gone for awhile stalking the Mr. Speakers Alpha Dog thread.

I pulled the trigger and ordered the new metallic black Alpha Dogs  they look stunning and sound fantastic. Once I get these headphones I may be gone from this thread for awhile

You're of course going to post a detailed comparison.

So ....wanted to share my experience with Beyer's Customer Service

I bought a rare 880 Pro- 600 around one month ago , the condition was pristine except the deteriorated velours and headband , I assume the previous owner might have been pressing the pads constantly while listening , I have seen some Audio Engineers do that , its stupid that they don't know that cutting the airspace will change the sound but such is the way of the world , any ways I contacted Beyer , they were kind enough to reply within 24 hours giving me details of Beyer's "Indian Head Office" , I contacted them and asked if I could get a pair of EarPads and Headband ....the reply was rather unsettling , they didn't have any spares in stock , they were going to import spares in May

I requested them if I could special order the required spares , to my surprise they arranged all the spares they were going to import in May + My spares to ship next week but they had another surprise for me , they decided to send me my spares on their own dime

So.....yeah it took a long time to go through shipping and customs but it was all worth it in the end

Beyer being a relatively small company with this attitude is doing business in the right way , I wish more and more companies showed this kind of gesture .....the greatest example being HiFiMAN who basically repudiated me when I needed help ...So if any Beyer representative happens to read this "You guys rock !"

A short answer would be, occassionally the Stax fool me into thinking I am listening to The Real Thing.

For example, one time I was sitting outside listening to music in the backyard on my deck.
One song was a live album, it opened with some applause, my first thought was, why are my neighbours applauding?
Another song started with some forest sounds, I thought there were real birds nearby for a second or two.

In addition, I find most dynamics have a slightly tizzy, sizzly spot somewhere in the treble region, I don't hear this from Stax headphones.

The Stax also remind me less of listening via headphones and more of listening via loudspeakers, they seem to have a better sense of space.

They would grab both of us by the shirt and throw us out, because I just did the same thing.

Hello,

I'm a new happy owner of a DT880 600 ohm, can you suggest me the most rated amps under 500$ please? Musical genres: 60% prog/hard rock - 40% jazz/classical

Chain: Foobar/Hi Face two -> Rega Dac

The amp should also run with Alessandro Ms1i and Shure srh940, but basically I need something dedicated to DT880.. just after a couple of days I realized will be my main gear :)

Thanks

Stop selling your DT880's.

No but seriously, Chris, enjoy your Stax. And stick around on this thread.
