HAH, ahh that was SO worth reading.

Yea 24bit/96khz is as high as I'll ever go... 192 or what ever seems just annoying and pointless

So all in all, which one do you prefer? I've heard many great things about the Shure's, a lot of which is about the clarity and detail. But it seems that others don't like it because it's very bass-light.
Are you rocking the T1 w/ the 6922EH still?? The T1 thread exploded and then imploded thanks to 2 guys but before everyone left, we expanded on the tubes that the T1 can use. There's some nice stuff out there that are cheaper due to less amp exposure. You should give it a try. wink.gif

Thanks for that smily_headphones1.gif

Unfortunately I still am. Haven't bought any tubes ever since. What do you think about the 6N1P's?

Haven't tried them yet. I've tried one of the non-recommendeds, a Sylvania 5BK7A and I got two coming in, Sylvania and GE 6BK7B. The 5BK7A wasn't recommended because it can only handle 4.7v, the Aune T1 is pushing 6.3. The guy who tried it first, his tube went out after 2 weeks. Mine is 3+ weeks currently but it's starting to pop a bit. tongue.gif It sounds great tho that's why I'm trying the 6BK7Bs, same tube structure but can handle the 6.3 voltage. biggrin.gif

Got a used pair of DT880 @600 Ohms today. My first impression after the first two hours of listening is: totally awesome. I'm actually preferring it over the e HE-400.

I'm running from an iPod Touch 5G to a C&C BH2. Not optimal I know, but I'm impressed so far.

I'm waiting for an Aune T1 to arrive, hope it pairs well with the Beyer'.

It can with the right tube. Any tube with an emphasis on mids really helps it out, like an Amperex orange globe or Mullard brand tube.

That's not hard to believe. I prefered my DT880 Pro over the HE-500 after long A/B auditioning. That's on classical. Sold the HE-500 and the after a few months had an opportunity for cheap pair again. Did another comparison with the 880 and still prefered the latter. Some people probably think I'm crazy, but the 880 just sounded more like a live orchestra to me.

I've had the DT880, DT990, T1, all 600 ohm....I got the HE-4 last week, and I have sold the DT990, and T1 because the HE-4 filled the need for them.  I still have the DT880, but it is no match for the HE-4, which is a good step up to what the DT880 lacks!

Please lets stop this talk about the HE--4. I have it on my wish list on Amazon. Every time I login, it takes effort not to pull the trigger on these phones. But in time I believe I will eventually give in.

I just pulled the trigger on a set of DT770 250 ohms, I wanted to try a closed set of headphones and I'm looking forward to comparing them to the 880s.

what kind of music do you guys listen to on one of these things? I'd like a description of a HQ sound or sound with no equalization. Describe the details of the audio that's being listened to.

I only listen to 8 bit Chiptunes on mine, for everything else I use the Monoprice 8323's.

If I don't like the stock tube, sure I'll be looking for that. Thanks for the tip!

The HE-400 just sounded darker and distant to me, plus the DT880 is MUCH more comfortable and doesn't has that treble peak the HE-400 has.

I had dt770 250 ohms before and sold them due to sibilant it made my ear bleed you can EQ it but not to my liking.
