The Beyerdynamic DT880 Discussion thread - Page 397

I was quite surprised at how much bass could actually be EQ'ed into the DT880 before it hit the wall. It didn't have the impact of a closed headphone, but you could certainly get quite a bit of low end rumble going. It's not something I often do, since I don't really have any music that benefits from it, but it's still a testament to the drivers they put in this thing--it can put out mondo bass, as it's reputed to do in certain batches of DT770s.

Like my DT770!  I bought two seemingly identical DT770 Premium 600 ohms and one was bass-light and sibilant and the other was bass-heavy with no sibilance. I kept the bassy one and gave the brighter one to my dad. I actually really love how bassy it is. I don't pull it out all that often but every time I do I'm really satisfied with the bass.

Has anyone found a reasonably priced usb dac/amp combo for the 600ohm DT880?

Everyone's idea of "reasonably priced" is different. How much do you want to spend?

<$200, preferably around 100. This is for a laptop, I understand I can't get everything out of a DT880 600ohm for $100 but I'm trying to find the best solution with what I can afford.

One of these days I need to hear the "King of Bass" Pro 900's... Infectecd Mushroom would be amazing on them. biggrin.gif

Meh. The bass quantity is overdone to the point that it causes ear pain and even muffles its own texture and resolution. IMO they would sound better on the PRO 750. See here:

^ Great recommendations for a low-budget setup. Personally I'd go with the O2 because I've heard the Magni is a bit bright.

The Stoner DAC looks awesome. Anyone know how/where I can buy one?

Thanks but I've been clicking around that d*mn site for 15 minutes and I can't figure out how to order one. All I see is blog posts with comments from people asking the same thing.

Wow... One would think that a headphone with a 5000+ post appreciation thread would have some merits. Over on that "Pirate" site they confirm all your findings. They don't seem to care for any 'Sones at all, which is really to bad cause I love my 780's for EDM.

I think Facebook or email is the only way to order the UD110.
