WA6 + Sophia + DT880 is a brilliant match. You'll love it.

Thanks Superfrag, always helps when you've spent so much to hear positive stuff and not ''I think you should have gone for this or that''.

It's a done deal now but as this is an appreciation thread I will say that the whole reason I spent another £550 was purely to feed these phones as I honestly believe they have the potential to be world class. I will of course feedback once I get the WA6...

A warm source complements the DT880/600 well :)

I use the DT880/600 with WA2, they are great!! with the dynamics and synergy i never got before!!

Well the WA6 is being delivered on Sunday so I will report back later.

I went down the tubes route because I was finding the 880's a little sterile with my Maxxed out Fi-Quest. I probably have about 80 hours on them now and I'm enjoying them a lot more. Maybe the 880's are burning in? the edginess in the treble has smoothed out and they seem to be my ''go to'' phones right now. I'm sure the WA6 will only increase the enjoyment :)

Thanks to all for your helpful comments...

Never heard a Woo, but I sure would like Too.  :)

Well the Woo Audio 6 got delivered on Sunday (yesterday) and all I can say is that it was even better than my expectations. Tubes are just magic, I just don't get how they seem to smooth every edge and yet still keep details and dynamics. I listened till late last night with the DT880's and have to say the WA6 can indeed unlock the potential of these phones. Soundstage is HUGE.......

So, for the best quality the DT880 (600) with WA6+Sophia... is it right? And for the source... is an mp3 player (d2) a decent choice? oh my god, i need a summer job xDSo, for the best quality the DT880 (600) with WA6+Sophia... is it right? I doubt it's the best, but it's the best I've heard so far :) I'm using lossless tunes via a 240gb iMod.

Ok, and for something cheaper? I was thinking at the MK III.. but maybe it's not the right choice. I'm a newbie with all this amps thing, so... ^^

All this talking about tubes makes me think I should give tubes another go (not that I don't like the Goldpoint, it's marvelous). I am looking at the Bottlehead Crack. What do you guys think?

Minority expression: I am sceptical. I haven't yet to hear an amp that was so different from others that it provided "magic" or sounded noticeably bad - and I heared the hell of a lot in the course of the years. Psychoacoustics and owner pride are very strong emotions though...

Like all this mp3s that came out from nowhere with a extraordinary SQ which is.. the same as the others mp3 players?

So, what do you suggest me? hypothetically, since i don't have an DT880 right now ^^

True, but that's also because most people start raving about the first better and more expensive they bought. Of course it will be better than your on-board. I don't fully agree with you though. Lower impedance phones like Grados don't sound very good on all the OTL tube amps that I have heard (and I've had the Little Dot MKIV SE) IMO. When you have a good solid-state amp most phones will behave properly though.

My D2000's which are one of my favourites with the Fi-Quest don't sound good at all with the WA6. The DT880/600's and the HD600's sound just superb.

I used the term 'Magic' as a descriptive term which I think nickchen may have taken out of context.
