The T1 has a better extended bass response with better definition. I'd say the DT880 (600) is 80-85% of the T1 in sound quality, at least to my subjective opinion, others think both more and less in improvement. The T1 is nowhere close to 2x as good as DT880 ultimately for me. Only go for the T1 if money is of no concern.

Interesting and good to know. Thanks for the the comparison.

A very difficult question to answer,
comes down to what's your budget?

I've used my DT880/600 Ohm with:
FiiO E17/E09K good for the money, no real complaints, but they will sound better via better equipment, for example
iBasso D12 DAC and Matrix M Stage better, I would argue that either of these pieces has more transparency than the FiiO stuff.
IBasso D12 DAC and La Figaro 336C even bette, personnally I like the fullness tubes add to the DT880s
Audiolab M-DAC the best I've ever heard my DT880s sound, but I certainly haven't heard everything out there

it can be difficult to rationale what's more important, improve the DAC first or improve the amp first, but I would improve the DAC first.

41 minuete's later... wow time flyes when your having fun <3

I am not a beliver of Power or interconnectors. But I do enjoy some nice headphone recables <3 although all I have is balanced sounds better than SE

So  that said. I do plan on getting all of my headphones Modular mini xlr here soon. And then taking my stock D7k Cable [which is termianted to 4pin xlr] making it a mini XLR. Next I plan to compare said stock cable to said expensive ones and see which does better. and OFC the DT 880 will b the candidate in this!

Still this was helpful as my brief listening makes me think in the direction of that these headphones aren't for me. Their sound? Really hard to tell how they compare to the newer 880's (600). From memory I'd say very similar. Did not appreciate the brightness and aren't sure if that's bacause I switched from a tube amp to a solid state or that these are just a tat brighter than what I've heard before or maybe, I am already used to other headphones with a different signature. The quest continues..

And perhaps nice to know is that the cups have about half the deepness of the newer version.

Wow that kinda sucks. I didn't know they were more shallow. Are these the 03' DT880s? or the pair from the 80's that looks completely different. Either way I think the current-gen DT880s hit it right on the mark. I would like to hear a pair of T1's for the first time to get an appreciation of the new Tesla driver. I'm sure that helps with some of the dynamics or the necessity to EQ the bass on some heavier songs with the DT880.

I thought they used the same pads. I know that my own pads are pretty squashed down from how they started, so maybe the pads were just worn down?

moriez this also happened to me. It turned out I had a hair on my driver. Its a pretty common thing with this design. I hit it with a light and a pair of tweezers and I was good to go.

Moderat is a collab between Apparat and Modeselektor and I highly recommend Modeselektor if you like Moderat.

Also checkout Terranova. One of my all time faves. Of course these are in a particular genre that might not be to everyone's liking but I love them.

Terranova - Hotel Amour:

and Terranova - Nightporter (Hotel Amour remixes):

That's a start anyway. There's so much good stuff out there! Especially when you've got great headphones like the 880s.

I really like Terranova. I'm into deep house so this suits my needs well :D

Not from the 80's as far as I know. Notice the flat outside of the cup which differs from the newer versions.

Hey, that's good to know. Mainly for reference as I sent them back already ;)
