i thought the superlux knock-off had an oval shaped cup?  maybe i'm mis-remembering...

Nope, the Luxes are like the DT770'2003.

@ApatN: Choose any you like. The prices don't differ severely.

So how long does it take for them to ship usually? Its been over a week and still no notice.

If they are Manufaktur I think they quote 3 weeks. Not sure about stock phones......

The T1 is stopping me from getting the DT880/600. IMO their smoothness is ortho like.. & I loved their bass.

I don't want it, the T1 lacks musicality in comparison, at least for my personal listening habits. I think I need at least a minimum of "rounded edges", these new generation highenders are just too sharp, precise & boring for my liking...

I'm on the brink of buying a WooAudio 6 + PDPS + Sophia Princess. It's more than I wanted to spend but I believe these cans deserve tubes. Anyone have a view regards synergie before I press the button??

That's 1200$ right? That's quite the price and I would personally look for something a bit cheaper. If you think the 600 ohmers are harder to driver than their 250 ohm counterpart: they're really not. But of course if you want a high-end tube amp the WA6 is probably for you. ;-)

It's a wonderful budget though and I also suggest you look at a balanced amp such as the Roc. Now I have not heard the WA6 or the Roc but I do know that the DT880 600 sounds absolutely gorgeous balanced straight from my Buffalo DAC. Just to let you know!

goodness no.  it's not $1200, apatN.

$620 for the amp.  $150 for the sophia.

PDPS is now standard.

so, unless he's going to upgrade caps, he's only out $770.

you might be thinking of the wa6se.

that's the more expensive big brother to the wa6.

This is what they guy paid about 5 months back.

WooAudio6 in black: $585
PDPS circuit upgrade: $60
Sophia Princess 274B: $150
Matched pair 6DE7: $16
USPS Priority shipping: $75
Plus 3.5% PayPal fee
Total: $917

I've just bought it for £550 and can have it pretty much straight away :) We will probably do the deal at the weekend unless I travel up to him (2.5 hour drive). I'm already excited so I may suggest this..

@ TheWuss - is there anything I should be aware of? like am I going to be spending money replacing tubes every couple of months?

Thanks in advance...

Nigel

nah.  the tubes last a good long while.

the sophia has a reputation for quality control issues.  and sometimes those will go on you.

but i haven't had any problems with mine (knock on wood).

my wa6 is just a really solid amp.

built like a tank and sounds like a dream.

with the dt880 or dt990, very good pairing.

and, you can tube roll to get more of the sound you're after.

sorry to derail the thread.

now back to our regularly scheduled dt880 program...

Doh! I was indeed thinking of the WA6 SE. I stand corrected.

I plan to use my DT880 600 ohm with my Sound Quest Sq-84 tube amp. I'm still waiting for them to arrive in the mail! :) I can't wait!

I like mine with the WeeeeeeSquirrel Darkvoice 336SE for remarkable tonal development and purity in the midrange.  : )
